Expenditure observer inspects SST nakas in Ludhiana East and South constituency; directs SSTs to intensify checking in collaboration with excise officials, FSTs

Ludhiana, May 28, 2024: Expenditure Observer for Ludhiana Parliamentary constituency Pankaj Kumar inspected the nakas by Static Surveillance Teams (SST) in Ludhiana East and South assembly constituencies on Tuesday. 

The inspections of SST nakas were conducted at Rahon Road, Sua Road in Giaspura, Dhandari Kalan among other areas.

Directions were issued to intensify checking through integrated nakas by SSTs and excise officials to check illegal sale and movement of liquor, cash, contrabands etc during elections.

Expenditure observer Pankaj Kumar said that the SSTs have been given a task to check all small and big vehicles to check the movement of cash, liquor, contrabands or any other things which can be used for inducing/influencing the voters. 

These teams are headed by officers with executive magisterial powers and includes police officers and videographers to record their activities on a daily basis. The SSTs have been asked to intensify checking in collaboration with excise officials, CAPF and Flying Squad Teams (FST).

Nine static surveillance teams (SST) have been assigned to each assembly constituency of Ludhiana and these teams are responsible for strict implementation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Expenditure observer Pankaj Kumar had also conducted a meeting with the Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) of Ludhiana Central, Ludhiana South, Ludhiana East and Atam Nagar constituency on Monday to intensify the checking drive. 

He said that the teams have been asked to perform their duties with dedication to ensure free, fair and transparent general elections.
