Experts address key health issues during World Health Day celebrations at KMV

Jalandhar, April 7, 2025: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated World Health Day with great enthusiasm by organising an impactful Health Awareness Workshop in collaboration with the 5 Rivers Heart Association, California, USA led by Dr. Swaiman Singh. The event, held today, witnessed the participation of distinguished doctors from various parts of Punjab who are actively associated with the association. 

The workshop was meticulously organised by Dr. Pawandeep, who also introduced the visiting team of medical professionals. It focused on key health areas including mental health, menstrual health, self-examination techniques, antibiotic resistance, and first aid and emergency response. The session began with an insightful introduction to the concept of health by Dr. Gunjan Kalsi. Dr. Amandeep Kaur delivered an engaging and thought-provoking talk on mental health, emphasising the importance of emotional well-being and early intervention. Menstrual health awareness was addressed with sensitivity and clarity by Dr. Deepa Grewal and Dr. Tanya, encouraging young women to adopt healthy and safe practices. The topic of self-examination techniques was taken up by Dr. Nikita, Dr. Samreet Sandhu and Dr. Jasmine, who educated the attendees about early detection and preventive care. Dr. Sonam Dhal further enriched the workshop with an informative session on antibiotic resistance, a topic of growing global concern. A highly engaging session on First Aid and Emergency Response was conducted by Dr. Pawandeep, Dr. Japneet, Dr. Sanyam Sharma and their team. This session provided practical knowledge and demonstrations on handling emergency situations effectively. 

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her heartfelt gratitude to the team from the 5 Rivers Heart Association for their dedicated efforts in raising awareness and educating the students. She averred that such initiatives help foster a culture of health consciousness and empower students with life-saving skills and knowledge that go beyond academics.
