Experts Discuss Role Of Information Technology At PAU Kisan Club Meet

Ludhiana, June 4, 2015: The subject-matter specialists of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) dwelt on entrepreneurship development among farming community and role of information technology in farm development during the monthly training camp of PAU Kisan Club, held on the University campus today. Besides, a training camp of women’s wing of the club was also held today. Earlier, a state level training-cum-workshop for the members of Progressive Beekeepers Association (PBKA) was conducted at PAU. As many as 415 farmers and 44 farm women from across the state participated in the camp, organized under the guidance of Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education and Programme Director.
S. Ajit Singh Aujla, President of the club, emphasized on minimizing the cost of production and augmenting the farm income. He suggested establishing farmers’ interest group at the village level.
S. Sarwan Singh, President of PBKA, said joint venture in marketing of honey can yield fruitful result.
The Programme Coordinator, Dr T.S. Riar said the club members play a vital role in transferring the farm technologies to other farmers of Punjab. He informed that participating farmers and beekeepers were equipped with knowledge about management of milch animals in summer, storage enhancement of vegetables, and management of honey bee diseases during rainy season.
Dr Rupinder Kaur, Coordinator, women’s wing of the club, said the farm women were informed about significance of Environment Day on June 5 and role of ornamental trees in conserving environment. In addition, demonstrations on preparation of nutritious and refreshing drinks from seasonal fruits were also given, she added. The resource persons included experts from PAU and GADVASU.
