Extempore competition on 'Problem of Drug Abuse in Punjab' by NCC Cadets of Lyallpur Khalsa College
NCC cadets of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, hosted an insightful and thought-provoking extempore competition on the pressing issue of 'Problem of Drug Abuse in Punjab'. The event was graced by Col. Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer 2 PB NCC Battalion as the esteemed chief guest, who commended the initiative and highlighted the significant impact of drug abuse on the youth of Punjab.
Jalandhar, January 30, 2025: NCC cadets of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, hosted an insightful and thought-provoking extempore competition on the pressing issue of 'Problem of Drug Abuse in Punjab'. The event was graced by Col. Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer 2 PB NCC Battalion as the esteemed chief guest, who commended the initiative and highlighted the significant impact of drug abuse on the youth of Punjab.
Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh said that the event was a significant step in raising awareness about the drug abuse issue that continues to affect the youth of Punjab. He also stressed the importance of offering support and counseling to those affected by addiction.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from NCC cadets, who spoke passionately on various aspects of drug abuse, its social and economic implications, and the steps required to combat this menace. The cadets emphasized the role of education, awareness, and government control in addressing the crisis. Their speeches reflected the urgency of community involvement in drug rehabilitation and prevention programs. Samridhi Kaushal, Bhawani Sharma and Sharanpreet Johal secured first, second and third positions respectively. Apart from these Cadets Jatin, Jaspreet Singh, Harshdeep Singh, Chetna, Jasmine, Mudit Thakur, Gursharan Singh and Ruby participated in the competition.
Col. Vinod Joshi, in his address, lauded the cadets for their remarkable oratory skills and expressed deep concern over the growing problem of drug addiction in the region. He called for collective efforts from schools, colleges, and the society at large to create a drug-free environment for the future generation.
NCC incharge Dr. Karanbir Singh said that the NCC cadets displayed a strong commitment to social responsibility, emphasizing their role in leading the charge for a healthier and drug-free society.
NSS Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh remarked that this initiative by the Lyallpur Khalsa College students not only gave the cadets a platform to voice their concerns but also reinforced the need for community action in combating drug abuse in the state. Battalion officials Sub Rajinder Singh, Naib Sub Iqbal Singh, Hav Hardeep Singh were also present in the event.
