Jalandhar, October 17, 2018: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous Institution, Jalandhar's PG Department of Physics organized an extension lecture on the topic “Bio Nano Sensors”. The resource person for the lecture was Dr.Sachin Tyagi, a scientist from CSIO, Mohali. During the lecture, the resource person explained the synthesis of nanomaterials by top down and bottom up techniques and also provided knowledge about sensors made from nanomaterials. Furthermore, he also discussed the practical applications of the sensors in various fields like defence, stealth aircraft etc. He explained in a very interesting way that how any explosive material like TNT can be detected using gold-nano sensor and quantum dot sensors. Explaining another application of nanomaterial, he told about magnetic paints which can make the materials invisible to radar. He also motivated the students and also the faculty to work on bioactive glasses as these glasses are very useful in tooth and bone implantation. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi thanked Dr. Sachin Tyagi for enlightening the students about the new innovations in Nanomaterials and also lauded the efforts of the faculty for organizing such a fruitful and knowledgeable lectures for the students.
