Extension lecture to celebrate ‘antarrashtria matar bhasha divas’
Also discuss importance of book reading at Ramgarhia Girls College
Ludhiana: Today, Punjabi Department of Ramgarhia Girls College organised an Extension Lecture to celebrate ‘Antarrashtria Matar Bhasha Divas’ and to discuss the importance of book reading.
Dr. Surjit Singh, Head, PG Department of Punjabi, Punjabi University Patiala was the main resource person. Principal Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Dr. Ripandeep Kaur, Head, PG Department of Punjabi accorded a warm welcome to the main guest. Talking about ‘Matarbhasha Day’ Dr. Surjit Singh asserted that Punjabi Language is one simple, clear and effective language. Its richness reflects the rich heritage of Punjab. He further said that a nation can achieve glory under the patronage of her language but irony in modern times is that our mother-tongue is being ignored by the modern generation in the name of globalisation. It’s a pity that now even Punjabis hesitate to speak their rich language. Along with this the interest in reading books has also been decreased. It’s really sad to see the modern generation forgetting their roots, So we must take effective steps to reverse the situation back to the golden period of mother language. Principal Dr. Inderjit Kaur said that indeed we must leave no stone unturned to promote our rich language because only then we would be able to pay homage to the ‘Gurmukhi’ Language. The interest in reading should also be increased among by telling youth the important of reading books.
S. Ranjodh Singh, President Ramgarhia Educational Council congratulated everyone on the Language day and said that by using our mother- tongue on every possible occasion we can set a strong example for others to use it. Research Scholars of PhD at Punjabi University, Patiala namely Sohajdeep, Sarabjit Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Tej Kaur were also present and they discussed the topic ‘ Various Problems Confronted by Women today ‘. The open discourse was organised to discuss the problems faced by women and the solution to the problem. Dr. Ripandeep Kaur thanked Dr. Surjit Singh for sharing his valuable ideas with the students.
