Ludhiana, November 4, 2015: In last one month, Sankara Eye Hospital has organised eye screening programme in different schools of the city. In these eye checkup camps Sankara Eye Hospital conducted preliminary tests on nearly 2100 students. Out of which around 450 students were identified with some vision problems and then referred to the hospital for further checkups and their treatment. These eye screening camps were held in 3 different schools including GHG Academy Jagraon, Harvest International school and Eastwood International school. The idea is to diagnose eye problems in children early & treat them. And to make the parents and teachers aware of the menace. So that they are able to recognize these eye problems in children to refer them to the treatment centers.
Sankara eye Foundation (SEF), of which the Sankara Eye Hospital Ludhiana is a part was established in the year 1977 under the ageis of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust from a small room in a temple at Coimbatore and since its foundation today Sankara Eye Hospitals are Pan India. They are in Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. The next three replications under their programme titled “Vande Matharam” are going to take place in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
