Eyeca Eye Hospital organised free check-up camp

Ludhiana, September 15, 2012: Eyeca Eye Hospital, an upcoming eye hospital of the city, yesterday organised an eye camp at Mohalla Guru Nanak Nagar, Gill Village.

During the camp, visually impaired patients with operable cataracts were examined free of cost.

A total of 250 patients including women and children were screened during the camp, of which 20 patients were identified for the surgery.

Medicines were also distributed to the poor and needy patients.

The team of participating doctors and medical assistants addressed the locals and gave them advice on everyday hygiene practices. .

The doctors advised that with the onset of monsoon, lot many infections affect the eyes and causes pain and discomfort. Some of the common eye problems that occur or can be aggravated during monsoons includes Conjunctivitis Eye Stye Dry Eyes Corneal ulcers. The doctors said that a little care can go a long way in preventing infections and keeping your eyes healthy to enjoy the monsoons.

The organisers acknowledged the support of Gurminder Singh, Sarpanch Jujhar Singh and Member Panchayat, Bibi Baljeet Kaur.  

Suggestive Preventive Measures for eye care during monsoons:

  • Wash your hands frequently especially after touching your eyes or face,and using eye medicine.
  • Discontinue use of contact lens when you have an infection.
  • Do not share your contact lens solution or containers.
  • Do not share eye medicines.
  • Do not share towels and handkerchiefs as they can easily transfer infections.
  • Make sure your towels and linen are washed frequently especially if they come in contact with your hands or eyes frequently.
  • Do not use eye makeup or any cosmetics near the eye when you have an infection. If the infection is a contagious one, then replace your old make up products with a fresh one after you are cured.
