Ferozepur, March 26, 2013:  In the last few days, the Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of the denomination of Rs.1,000 are available in the market and because of having no knowledge of differentiating between the original and fake currency notes, the innocent people are facing great difficulty.

Inder Singh Gogia, Presdient, Ferozepur District NGOs Coordination Committee, Ferozpeur Unit and social activists Ashok Bajaj, ITO Retd., Manjit Singh Dhami, Retd.(SDO), Mangat Ram and Dr. Diwan Chand and associated with the various NGOs have demanded from the banks to organise seminars and workshops to create awareness among the people to differentiate between the fake and original currency notes.

Vishal,  a resident of Ferozpeur City informed that a few days back some fake currency notes were found while withdrawing cash from the local bank and on coming to know of this, the official were in action while accepting the cash at the counters.

Parveen Malhotra, Presdient of Ferozepur Welfare Club when contacted said, a person can only differentiate between the fake and original if he has the knowledge of the same.  But it is very difficult to check each note at the counter on withdrawing the heavy cash. There is a need to keep a proper check over the circulation of fake currency by the police and district administration.

It is pertinent to mention that a few days, fake Indian currency notes were seized from the smugglers alongwith the heroin passed on by their counterparts in Pakistan and there is possibility of circulation of fake currency in the market which could not be checked and seized.

However, some bank officials on cash counter duty, on the basis of anonymity shared that about 2-4 fake notes are detected when a person comes to the bank for depositing the cash and they are puzzled when they come to know the fact. Since the good quality  paper is being used now for fake currency notes, the common man cannot differentiate the fake one.
