Farm workers get training in crop production at PAU

Ludhiana, December 16, 2014: A three-month training course on “Crop Production” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The farm workers including beldars/gardeners participated in the course. As many as 30 non-teaching employees from various departments of the University also attended the course.

In his address, Dr R.S. Sidhu, Director of Extension Education urged the trainees to inculcate scientific thinking and make significant contribution towards the agricultural development. He distributed the certificates to the participants.

Dr T.S. Riar, Course Coordinator, said that the course aims at updating the knowledge of the farm workers about agriculture and subsidiary occupations. The experts dwelt on horticulture, bee keeping, mushroom growing, dairy farming, and cultivation of vegetables alongwith their insect-pest and disease management, he added.

Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Professor of Extension Education, proposed the vote of thanks.
