Farmers suffering with several health problems
3rd Medical camp by IDPD at Tikri Border
Ludhiana: The Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) organized 3rd medical camp for the protesting farmers at Tikri border on 19 & 20 December 2020.
Nearly 600 patients were examined by a team of doctors including Dr Arun Mitra, Dr Suraj Dhillon and Dr Jaswinder Singh along with Ramadhar Singh and Anod Kumar who helped in the camp work.
Dr Arun Mitra said that diseases which we encountered include Respiratory Tract infections, Asthma, Stomach problems, Diarrhea, hyperacidity, high blood pressure, cardiac problems, diabetes and skin problems, joint pains, dental problems and backache etc. The respiratory problems are likely to increase with the increase in the chill. Moreover, poor hygienic conditions can add to further health problems for the people. He expressed concern over the absence of any medical aid to the farmers by the government. Because the gathering is huge and medical problems are rampant there is much need for medical aid. He appealed to the government to start a 24 hours emergency medical services. /(December 21, 2020)
