Chandigarh, November 10, 2015: Acting on the directions of Sh Surjit Kumar Jyani, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab to effectively implement the provisions of Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 & Rules, and check the sale of sub-standard and habit forming drugs, the Centralized Drug Cell comprising three Zonal Licensing Authorities (Drugs) conducted raids at Ferozepur on Friday. This was revealed here today by an official spokesperson. He told that the team inspected the premises of M/s P K Medical Agencies, at Krishna Nagri near Khanna Nursing Home, Ferozepur and its godows situated at Krishna Nagri near Khanna Nursing Home, Ferozepur and seized 15 types of allopathic drugs from two different places which were stocked for sale and distribution in the premises. The in-charge of the said shop/ godowns Pawan Kumar could not produce the purchase and sale records of the drugs as well as drug sale licenses for godown. 3 types of samples were taken for test and analysis from the said firm's (M/s P K Medical Agencies) and 6 types of samples were taken for test from its godown. A recovery of drugs worth Rs. 14.6 lacs has been made by the team. During the inspection Pawan Kumar absconded from the place.
The spokesperson further added that the team also inspected the premises of M/s J S Pharmaceuticals and its godowns situated at Krishna Nagri near Khanna Nursing Home, Ferozepur and seized 51 types of allopathic drugs from two different places which were stocked for sale and distribution in the premises. The incharge of the said shop/ godowns Gurmukh Singh could not show the purchase and sale records of the drugs as well as drug sale licenses for godown. 5 types of samples were taken for test and analysis for this shop (M/s J S Pharmaceuticals). A recovery of drugs worth appx Rs. 68.7 lacs was made by the team. During the inspection Gurmukh Kapoor absconded from the place. Most of the recovered articles are various combinations of Tramadol, Alprazolam and Oxytocin Injections.
Officers of Health Department also intimated Senior Police officers of District, after which Sh Hardyal Mann, SSP Ferozepur sent his Police officers lead by DSP city to the site. Police had also registered a case under NDPS Act against the accused. In future also, such raids will be conducted to curb the availability and sale of sub-standard drugs and habit forming drugs in the State.
