Ludhiana, August 5, 2019: CT University organised a Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). The session was divided into two sessions; morning session included Basics of IPRs, including Management of IPRs thereafter afternoon session included discussion on Core of IPRs, including hands on training.

The FDP was addressed by Professor Anand Sharma, from Kurukshetra University and is presently heading the Department of Pharmaceutical Management along with holding the position of Chairman of IPR Committee of the Institute, and Chandan Chandna is a Technical Supervisor Grade I at NIPER Mohali and is also looking after IPR Cell of the institute.

The session was attended by faculty of CTU, research scholars and researchers from various institutes. Prof Anand Sharma, one of the speakers said, “The topic was chosen to encourage awareness and understanding of the role that intellectual property plays in fostering a creative and innovative culture, to educate the participants on how to respond to infringements of rights including patents also, to educate about the protection and enforcement of IPRs from infringements and to establish a link between industry and academia on IPR.”

Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, CTU said, “With the increasing relevance of Intellectual Property (IP) in this era of globalization, it is important to recognize the role which IP systems play in the growth of the Nation. Thus, there is a need to create large public awareness about the pivotal role of IPR in globalized knowledge economy. With the view to create awareness on the significance of IPR to faculty, students and research scholars, the FDP was organised.”
