FDP on theme “Psycho-Social Roots of Well Being” begins
Department of Psychology and Sociology has been jointly organized 7days Faculty development program (FDP) from August 11-17 on the theme: “Psycho-Social Roots Of Well Being”
Chandigarh, August 11, 2022: Department of Psychology and Sociology has been jointly organized 7days Faculty development program (FDP) from August 11-17 on the theme: “Psycho-Social Roots Of Well Being”.
The FDP organized under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh, VC has ignited the departments to go inter departmental activities to focus on varieties of issues, Both the department is highly thankful to worthy vice chancellor of our university for his valuable support.
Dr. Roshan Lal, Chairperson of the department has introduced the theme of FDP and said that if all we are well connected with our social roots then automatically we will enjoy wellness in every sphere of our life. So psycho-social connection are the real connections for living very smooth life, Bur presently we are disconnected from pour social roots so we usually facing verities of psychological issues in our daily life.
The theme of the FDP is decided by keeping in view of the Restart after the COVID-19 because majority of people had experienced verities of psychological and sociological problem during complete lockdown. So this endeavor
Dr. Moniva Sarkar, Chairperson, Department of Sociology, has introduced the speakers and welcomed all the delegates. Dr. Sarkar expressed that it’s the first endeavor between two department i.e psychology and sociology to focused on very relevant topic of the FDP.
Prof. Pushpender Syal, Retd professor of English department has delivered an inaugural address in the FDP and enlightened the audience. She highlighted that language is an important tool well being because all we use language and how we use and perceive the language of each other influenced our wellness up to maximum level. She further added that empathy also play an important role towards well being because when we have empathetically works than we remain well connected with outside of the world too.
Prof. S.L Sharma (Retd) Prof from department of Sociology ahs also shared his views as an expert and he focused on the significant role of communication for our well being. What type of words we are using in our communication always have impact on our mind and results accordingly. The words can be of verities in nature but one must have positivity toward the attitude of self and others then surely our wellness can be remain intact because word has the power to heal as well as to hurt also.
More than 300 faculties across the countries has applied for FDP program but due to some IT issues only around 200 people has joined through google meet as we’ll as webex also,.
Thus FD P will go up to 17.08.2022 and all the participants will be engaged in group discussion, review of literature, experts and invited talks as well as feedback sessions also. Today there are only two session and tomorrow onwards we will have more than two sessions to engage the participants to well equipped with the contemporary updates about psycho-social roots of well being.
Dr. Roshan Lal finally thanked to the speakers of the day along with all the participants for showing their interest to imbibe about the ongoing updates pertaining to well being. Throughout seven days many speakers will share their expertise related to different areas of life.
