FEOZEPUR DISTRICT: Cancer claims 1,696 lives in 5 years

Ferozeur, December 13, 2012: The door-to-door Cancer Awareness Campaign by the Punjab Government has been initiated from December 1-31. 

Giving this information, Gurdit Singh Sodhi informed, training to the field workers had been given to identify the symptoms of cancer. The survey is being conducted by the field workers by visiting the house door-to-door and they have also been given the hand-outs and the people have been asked about the symptoms of Cancer.

Sodhi further said,  in Ferozepur district, the survey of 11,37,753 people has been conducted by visiting  2,03,193 houses and on the basis of suspected Cancer, 4,706 persons were given the referral card and 1,634 persons are affected with cancer and during the last five years 1,696 persons have died due to cancer.  The data collected in this campaign, is being uploaded by the ANMs from their mobiles and about 55 per cent population have been covered during this survey in Ferozepur district.
