Ferozepur district leads in paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, October 21, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 3937140 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.

Out of total procurement of 3937140 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 3599690 tonnes of paddy (91.4%) till date whereas private traders procured 337450 tonnes (8.6%) of paddy. Till October 20, PUNGRAIN had procured 1042513 tonnes (29.0%) whereas MARKFED procured 851414 tonnes (23.7%). PUNSUP procured 822314 tonnes (22.8%), PSWC procured 333555 tonnes (9.3%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 357184 tonnes (9.9 %) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 192710 tonnes (5.4%).

The spokesperson added that District Ferozepur with 516411 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Patiala with 401432 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Tarn Taran 317585 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.  www.cityairnews.com
