The Festival Secretariat of the 9th Panjab University Rose Festival to be held from 9th-11th February, inaugurated

Chandigarh, January 18, 2018: The Festival Secretariat of the 9th Panjab University Rose Festival to be held from 9th-11th February, 2018 was inaugurated today by Col.G.S.Chadha (Retd.), Registrar, Panjab University at Single Window Enquiry, Near Post Office, Panjab University. Posters of the Festival and Fashion Competition to be held during the Festival were also unveiled by the Registrar. The Registrar also had hands on experience of the working of the website of the festival. Er.Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (Hort.) apprised him of the improvements made in the website since last festival.

With the inauguration of the 9th Panjab University Rose Festival Secretariat, the sale of the forms for participating in various competitions has started at the festival secretariat and also on the website. The cost of forms will be Rs. 200 per participant per competition for Singing, Dancing, Fashion & Rose Prince & Princess and Rs. 100 for other competitions. The cost of forms for Flower Competition will be Rs. 50/- per participant per entry. Participation in Band Competition for schools and Painting Competition for Mentally challenged will be free of cost.

Entries for Photography will be accepted upto 5:00 p.m. on 06.02.2018. Entries for flower competition will be accepted upto 5:00 p.m. on 08.02.2018 at Rose Festival Secretariat and on 9.02.2018 till 10:00 a.m. at Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, Panjab
University, Chandigarh. Entries for all other competitions will be accepted upto 07.02.2018 till 5:00 p.m.. Schedule of the festival and terms and conditions pertaining to participation in various competitions are available at the Festival Secretariat and at the aforesaid website. Forms can be submitted at the Festival Secretariat up to 5 pm on all days including holidays.

The 9th Panjab University Rose Festival will be a three days event. The festival will be inaugurated on 9th February, 2018. The festival will have Judgments of Flower and Photography Competition and Competition of Bands of schools on first day. The first day of the event will have Fashion Competition and Performance by Rock Band in the evening. The theme of the Photography Competition will be The Spirit of Campus Life or ‘Chiaroscuro- The Play of Light & Shade at the Panjab University Campus’. The winning entries of photography competition will be displayed at the time of inauguration of the festival on 9.02.2018.

On second day i.e. 10th February, 2018, competitions of Singing, Rangoli, Collage Making, Face Painting & Slogan Writing for school, college and University Students as well as general public will be held. The second day of the event will feature Laughter Show in the evening.

On third day i.e. 11th February, 2018, competitions of Poetic Recitation, Rose Prince/Princess, Dancing, Mehandi, Painting, Fancy Dress will be held. A Star Night will take place on third day of the festival in the evening.

Space will be provided to sponsors to showcase their products and services which will get vast publicity due to huge gatherings expected at the festival like previous years. For entertainment of small children, amusement park and gaming zones will be set up.

The inauguration was attended by Director Public Relations, Manager Press, members of Organising Committee of the Rose Festival, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and general public.
