Festival secretariat of 11th PU rose festival inaugurated

Chandigarh: The Festival Secretariat of the 11th Panjab University Rose Festival to be held from 7th-9th February, 2020 was inaugurated today by Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Registrar, Panjab University at Single Window Enquiry, Near Post Office, Panjab University. Poster of the Festival and brochure of Flower Competition was also unveiled by the Registrar. 

The Registrar also had hands on experience of the working of the website of the festival 'panjabuniversityrosefestival.in'. The Registrar appreciated the website of the Rose Festival particularly, the online registration for competitions and efforts of the Organising Committee.

Deepak Kaushik, President PUNTEF, representatives of other employees Unions and other members of Organising Committee of the Rose Festival, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and general public were in attendance. 

With the inauguration of the 11th Panjab University Rose Festival Secretariat, the sale of the forms for participating in various competitions has started at the Festival Secretariat and also on the website 'www.panjabuniversityrosefestival.in'. 

Er. Anil Thakur, Divisional Engineer (H)-cum-Organiser of the 11th Panjab University Rose Festival apprised those present that during the three days festival, different competitions will be arranged for different age groups among the School Children, College and University Students. Apart from it, for the entertainment and to spread Indian culture among the masses, the Festival will have Cultural/Star Nights in the evenings of all three days of the competitions. 

The festival will be inaugurated on 7th February, 2020. The festival will have Judgments of Flower and Photography Competitions and Competition of Bands of schools on first day. On second day i.e. 8th February, 2020, competitions of Singing, Rangoli, Collage Making, Face Painting & Slogan Writing for school, College and University Students as well as general public will be held. On third day i.e. 9th February, 2020, competitions of Poetic Recitation, Rose Prince/Princess, Dancing, Mehandi, Painting, Fancy Dress will be held. 

To cater to the need of the visitors, there would be variety of food space in the Food Court. For entertainment of youngsters and children, amusement park and gaming zones will be set up.

The main attraction would be the open flower competition with about 60 nos. of competition for residents of Tricity.

For healthy children, there would be the competitions of three age groups of Rose Prince and Rose Princess.

Space will be provided to sponsors to showcase their products and services which will get vast publicity due to huge gatherings expected at the festival like previous years. 

The Entries for Photography will be accepted upto 5:00 p.m. on 04.02.2020 on offline mode only. The theme of the Photography Competition will be  “Ariel View of Panjab University Campus” and “Horticulture beauty of Panjab University”. The winning entries of photography competition will be displayed at the time of inauguration of the festival on 07.02.2020.

Entries for flower competition will be accepted upto 5:00 p.m. on 06.02.2020 at Rose Festival Secretariat and on 07.02.2020 till 10:00 a.m. at Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden, Panjab University, Chandigarh. 

Entries for all other competitions will be accepted upto 05.02.2020 till 5:00 p.m.. Schedule of the festival and terms and conditions pertaining to participation in various competitions are available at the Festival Secretariat and at the aforesaid website. Forms can be submitted at the Festival Secretariat up to 5 pm on all days including holidays.
