Pune, November 12, 2019: FICCI FLO, the women’s division of FICCI today unveiled its 5th edition of FLO Pune Half Marathon. The run is slated for December 8, 2019. For the year 2019, FICCI FLO has dedicated the run to theme of ‘Urban to Rural’ with a motto to Empower, Enrich, Engage and Employ women from all strata of the society.
FICCI FLO intends to augment the event as a philanthropic sporting platform in order to raise funds for skilling, educating, and supporting women initiatives & causes. Under the chairpersonship of Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria, the Pune chapter has been engaged in comprehensive activities for women, in areas such as agriculture, social welfare along with providing assistance to senior citizens and hosting health camps for women prisoners.

It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both the athletic excellence and also the community spirit of Punekars. We at FICCI FLO are eager to welcome participants, supporters and volunteers to Pune city and count it a true honor to showcase the beauty of our city that comprises the run route.” says Mrs. Ritu Prakash Chhabria, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Pune Chapter.
On the association, Mr. Ajay Sevekari, Member of the Board of Directors, Bridgestone India, said. “For Bridgestone, serving our communities is one of our integral focus areas, which we call ‘Our Way to Serve’. We believe that Sports can play an essential role in creating a better society by developing individuals. And, we truly believe that women have a key role in it. Additionally we have Magarpatta City as our Venue Partner for the last 5 years and supporting FICCI for this initiative, Nobel Hospital for medical support, Sancheti for Physio support, Viking Corporation (Life) as Hydration Partner, Frustar as Beverage Partner and APCC as Community Sanitation Partner. Goodie bags will be provided to every participant comprising of vouchers from Uber Eats, Dunzo, and Girnar eats.
FICCI FLO intends to channelize the funds raised from the Marathon into various initiatives like:
• Empowering women in the field of farming through Bharat Agro Industries Foundation (BAIF).
• Supporting widowed women farmers of Osmanabad.
• Skilling young girls for employment and financial independence through Tata Strive in the field of Auto Sales and GDA (General Duty Assistants).
• Supporting senior citizens with basic literacy.
• Providing Cervical Cancer Vaccination to young adolescents.
• Support for Cancer Patients.
