FICO demands for strengthening Transmission System of PSPCL

Ludhiana, March 13, 2019: A delegation of Federation of Industrial & Commercial Organization popularly known as FICO, Under the Chairmanship of Gurmeet Singh Kular, President, FICO met Chief Engineer, D.P.S. Grewal, Central Zone, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited. The delegation has discussed concerns related to PSPCL for the immediate attention of Chief Engineer.: Strengthening the Ludhiana Power Transmission System: It has been observed that existing 66 KV Power Feeding systems of Ludhiana are running to its maximum capacity, moreover Ludhiana is now a Smart City, considering the growth of a Smart City, the demand of power is on the rise, it is notable that more than 50 Industrial Connections in Ludhiana are pending due to feasibility limitation of the existing grids of Ludhiana. The biggest industrial grids in Ludhiana, Dhandari-1 & Dhandari-2 are running to their capacities, another grid is proposed, but the work on the same has not been started as yet, The pending 50 industrial connections one issued, will not only generate more revenue for the PSPCL, but also generate the revenue for the Government in form of GST, Property Tax, Octroi and other taxes. There is a need to upgrade the existing power distribution system of Ludhiana, FICO requests you to kindly get the power systems of Ludhiana strengthened before the summers, as the power demand will be on peak in summers. Standing orders to waive of Surcharge on Payment due to AMR: Recently, it has been observed that due to failure of Automated Meter Recorders in timely recording of the power consumption in Large Supply Connections, the bills have been delayed, in result imposing the surcharge, late fee & other penalties on the consumers, who are held responsible without any reason. So it is requested to waive off the surcharges and other penalties imposed due to AMRs. Restoration of G.O. Switch: The concept of General Over Switch should be restored at least for the industrial units in Ludhiana. The General Over Switches are those switches which are installed between the Transformer & the Industrial Unit, if any fatal error occurs the G.O. Switch trips and shut the supply of that particular industrial unit, prevents the electrical equipment’s of factory as well as the transformer, additionally it also prevents the power tripping of the neighboring units.
