Film dedicated to Saragarhi Day released by Cabinet Minister Punjab at State Function in Ferozepur
To commemorate 127th anniversary of “Saragarhi Day” significant Documentary Film & pictorial brochure depicting “The Forgotten Battle of Saragarhi” was released by Punjab's Social Security, Women, and Child Development Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur during the State Function held at the Saragarhi Memorial, Ferozepur.
Ferozepur, September 12, 2024: To commemorate 127th anniversary of “Saragarhi Day” significant Documentary Film & pictorial brochure depicting “The Forgotten Battle of Saragarhi” was released by Punjab's Social Security, Women, and Child Development Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur during the State Function held at the Saragarhi Memorial, Ferozepur. The Documentary has been prepared under the patronage of District Administration Ferozepur & Directorate Defence Services Welfare Punjab and is dedicated to the Saragarhi Day 2024 as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the 21 Sikh soldiers who fought to their last breath on September 12, 1897.
Cabinet Minister Punjab Dr. Baljit Kaur along with MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar, Ferozepur City, MLA Rajneesh Dahiya, Ferozepur Rural, MLA Fauja Singh Sarari Guruharsahai of District Ferozepur while releasing the pictorial brochure, portrait & documentary film said that the pictorial work is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the Sikh soldiers, who gave their lives to protect the nation and their comrades, she urged to the citizens of Punjab to must watch the documentary film, “The Forgotten Battle of Saragarhi” prepared by Punjab’s eminent Author, Heritage Promoter, Nature Artist & Advocate Harpreet Sandhu featuring the historic visuals of the Saragarhi Memorial which highlights the Saragarhi Memorial and Saragarhi Gurdwara showcasing the visuals of 21 Sikh Soldiers led by Havildar Ishar Singh, who fought valiantly against the Afghan tribesmen, who despite being vastly outnumbered, refused to yield, to the attack.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur along with Major General Yogi Sheoran, GOC 7 Infantry Division, Arun Sekhri, Divisional Commissioner, Ferozepur, Rajesh Dhiman, Deputy Commissioner, Saumya Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Col Jasdeep Sandhu Civil Military Advisor, Western Command and Administrative - Police officials acknowledged the exemplary efforts done by Harpreet Sandhu for his visionary step towards compiling the Documentary film and Pictorial art work portraying the unmatched history of Saragarhi Battle, as a befitting tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of the 21 Sikh Martyrs of Saragarhi War" and promoting Battle of Saragarhi and Memorial which would inspire future generations with tales of unmatched valour and courage.
Major General Yogi Sheoran, GOC 7 Infantry Division Ferozepur much acknowledged the pictorial brochure and documentary film “The Forgotten Battle of Saragarhi” and described it to be an outstanding step to highlight the significance of Saragarhi Memorial within the society.
