Financial Literacy Program at Government Home Science College
In an effort to raise awareness about financial literacy, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, organized an insightful Program on the subject today, in collaboration with Axis Bank and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday.
Chandigarh, November 14, 2024: In an effort to raise awareness about financial literacy, Government Home Science College, Chandigarh, organized an insightful Program on the subject today, in collaboration with Axis Bank and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Thursday.
The session, aimed at empowering students with essential financial knowledge, was attended by students of the college and featured a panel of distinguished experts from the banking and financial sector.The resource persons included Sanjeev, Assistant General Manager, RBI, Vivek, Branch Head Axis Bank, Shalini, Vinay, and Iqbal from Axis Bank Sector 35B, Chandigarh. The session covered various critical aspects of financial literacy, with a special focus on contemporary issues like cybersecurity and digital banking.
The students were educated about prevalent scams, such as digital arrest scams, cyber investment frauds, and OTP scams, which have become a concern in the current digital landscape. The experts provided practical tips on how to stay protected, emphasizing the importance of caution when sharing personal information and how to identify and report suspicious activities. A key segment of the lecture focused on empowering young women, with Sanjeev, AGM of RBI, shedding light on various government schemes designed to support women entrepreneurs. He spoke about programs such as the Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP) and the Mudra Scheme, which provide financial backing to individuals, particularly women, interested in starting their own businesses.
The students also discussed their personal experiences and the problems that they are facing in their financial procedures as a solution to which the procedure to file a complaint to RBI was briefly explained.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal appreciated the whole team for providing this visionary session to the college students and advised the students to stay aware and share this information to the family and friends in order to avoid being a victim in such crimes.
