'Fire Safety Week': Fire fighters conduct mock drills in Pavilion mall, Fortis hospital to sensitise residents regarding fire safety
Continuing the campaign to sensitise the residents about fire safety during the ongoing 'Fire Safety Week', fire brigade wing of Municipal Corporation (MC) conducted mock drills in Pavilion Mall and Fortis hospital (Chandigarh road) on Tuesday.
Ludhiana, April 16, 2024: Continuing the campaign to sensitise the residents about fire safety during the ongoing 'Fire Safety Week', fire brigade wing of Municipal Corporation (MC) conducted mock drills in Pavilion Mall and Fortis hospital (Chandigarh road) on Tuesday.
With an aim to spread awareness among the residents, MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi also participated in the mock drill in Pavilion mall and appealed the residents to follow fire safety norms. MC Zonal Commissioner Neeraj Jain, Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO) Maninder Singh among others also participated in the drill.
During the mock drills, fire fighters apprised the residents of precautions which they need to take, if any fire incident is reported in their premises or in their private properties. A mock drill on emergency and rescue operation was also held using turntable ladder and other safety equipment.
The residents/staff members were also apprised about different categories of fire incidents including those involving flammable liquids, combustible material etc. They were apprised of the procedure to operate the fire extinguishers. The employees were also apprised about the steps which can be taken to ensure their safety and the safety of their colleagues in case any fire incident is reported in the building.
The officials said that the fire brigade is well equipped to tackle any untoward incident and a turntable ladder has also been added to the fleet of fire tenders to tackle fire incidents in high rise buildings. But the residents should take all the precautions and follow fire safety norms to avoid any untoward incident at their respective properties.
MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi said that Fire Safety Week would be observed till April 20 and mock drills at public places/hospitals, awareness drives, essay writing competitions in schools/educational institutes etc would be held for spreading awareness among residents in the coming days.
