First Inter Campus Annual Athletic Meet 2018 Held At Guru Kashi University

Talwandi Sabo: The Guru Kashi University (GKU) conducted its First Inter-Campus Athletics Meet, on February 17. It was inaugurated by S.Sarwan Singh, Superintendent of Police, Bathinda. In his inaugural remarks he congratulated the University for holding its Annual Inter Campus Athletic Meet and motivated the students to participate in all the events with vigour and vitality as sports play constructive role in their lives. The sportsmanship in an individual prepares one to meet the challenges in life, he said. He advised youth to keep themselves fit, read good literature and learn from the lives of great men and women that India has produced.
DrJasmel Singh Dhaliwal, Chancellor of GKU motivated the students to follow discipline in whatever they did in life as it was much needed than ever before. He added that devotion, dedication, diligence, determination and discipline were the vital ingredients to be successful in life. Playgrounds teach this all and student life is the right age to learn this, he observed.
The GKU Chairman, S. Gurlabh Singh Sidhu congratulated the winning participants who got positions in various events. He said that a sound mind lives in a sound body, and added that students should take more interest in games and sports of their liking. The youth taking active part in games cannot go astray, he expressed.
The Athletic Meet had participation by players from different colleges of GKU, Shaheed Udham Singh Group of Institutions, Tangori, R.P.C, Group of Institutions Behman Diwana, St Kabir Polytechnic College, Fazilka, Baba Ishar Singh Group of Institutes, Gaggra, Moga, and G.G.S., Polytechnic College, Nathana.
Mr.Gautam Kumar of S.U.S., Group of Institutes, Tangori and Ms Shamandeep Kaur of GKU were declared as the Best Athlete from Men and Women Group respectively. The Overall Trophy for men and women was won by GKU while S.U.S., Group of Institutes, Tangori fetched the Runners Up position.
Dr. (Col.) B.S. Dhaliwal, Vice Chancellor (GKU) inspired students and said that sports inculcate team spirit among students and make them disciplined. He welcomed all dignitaries and the participants to the Meet. Many dignitaries including Principal S. Raghubir Singh, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman Registrar GKU, Dr. Narinder Singh Director Finance, GKU, and Sports enthusiasts from different institutes were present on the occasion. The Meet concluded with the felicitation of winners with Medals and certificates. The programme concluded with the singing of National Anthem and lowering of GKU Flag.
