Five skill enhancement courses and value added courses at UIAMS, PU

Chandigarh August 21, 2023: Five Skill Enhancement Courses and Value Added Courses have kick-started at University Institute of Applied and Management Sciences(UIAMS), Panjab University, Chandigarh for students of MBA (Sectoral) Programmes Semester-III. 

The objective is to horn the skills required for making students employment ready for different corporate roles. The joint inaugural took place on August 21, 2023 at 10 am, and saw the presence of Prof. Y. P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University to deliver the inaugural address wherein he shared his happiness about the initiatives of UIAMS to lead for such courses. Prof. Y.P. Verma emphasized the need to develop need-based skills to enhance the employability. He asked the organizers to launch more such courses of six months duration or so in alignment with NEP, 2020. Before that, Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Director, UIAMS formally welcomed and introduced the chief guests and guests, and thanked the collaborators and Faculty coordinators including Dr. Naveen Kumar, Prof. Upasna Joshi, Dr. Manjushri Sharma, Dr. Nidhi Gautam, and Dr. Harsh Tuli for such a naïve initiative. 

Jatin Kumar, Founder of Dyota Digital Services and alumni of UIAMS 2020-22 batch delivered the key note address and apprised the audience about the significance of such courses to enhance the employability outcomes. Prof. Suveera Gill, Honorary Director, CSDE shared the vision and mandate of the department and made audience aware about the activities undertaken by this department including Summer Skill Development School, and shared the initiatives of the department for collaborations done with Industry associations like CII and more, and shared the benefits that are going to accrue to students of PU and Its affiliated colleges. The courses are of 30 hours duration and will be certified by collaborative agencies viz., Centre for skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Universal Human Values, Panjab University, Yes!+, and Dyota Digital Services, and will be equivalent to 2 credits.The themes of the five courses include Hands on Training on Professional Productivity, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp with Python,Digital Marketing, Introduction to the Universal Human Values and Youth Empowerment and Skills Workshop. 
The session was attended by CSDE coordinators including Prof. Meenu Aggarwal Gupta. Prof. Vandita Kakkar, and Prof. Prashant Jindal. The session concluded by presentation of words of thanks by Peehu Palak, student of MBA-3rd Semester at UIAMS.
