Flood-hit villages- DC distributes 500 dry ration kits, sanitary pads and tarpaulins
To take stock of the relief and rescue measures going on at the grass root level, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Friday carried out a whirlwind tour of flood affected villages falling in Ludhiana west sub-division and distributed dry ration kits, sanitary pads and tarpaulins.
Ludhiana, July 14, 2023: To take stock of the relief and rescue measures going on at the grass root level, Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik on Friday carried out a whirlwind tour of flood affected villages falling in Ludhiana west sub-division and distributed dry ration kits, sanitary pads and tarpaulins.
Malik, who visited Khaira Bet, New Khaira Bet, Allowal, Bholewal and adjoining areas, took stock of the condition at the ground level and said that district administration was making every effort to minimise the loss of people. She interacted with the people and said that a survey will be carried out to ascertain the loss of crops, houses, animals and others due to heavy rainfall in the state. She said that the State Government was committed to safeguarding the interests of people against nature’s fury.
Malik said that people should not panic as the administration is here to serve them by keeping a regular tab on the situation. She also appealed to the people to not worry about anything as the administration is already making concerted efforts to normalise the situation.
The Deputy Commissioner distributed 500 dry ration kits comprising wheat flour, sugar, tea, rice, pulses, soap, paste, toothbrush and etc besides handing over 200 sanitary pads among women and tarpaulins.
SDM West Dr Harjinder Singh, District Planning Board Chairman Sharanpal Singh Makkar and others were also present on the occasion.
