Flower show concludes at PAU
Gets unprecedented response
Ludhiana: A two-day “Dr MS Randhawa Memorial Flower Show and Competition” concluded at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The show received an unprecedented response from the flower lovers, educational institutions, individuals, nurseries and amateurs.
At the prize distribution ceremony, Dr JS Mahal, Director of Extension Education, PAU, was the chief guest. He said many farmers have adopted floriculture as a profitable business due to day-to-day growing demand for flowers. Hailing the response to the show, he congratulated the winners by giving away prizes.
Dr Kiranjeet Kaur Dhatt, Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, informed that about 170 prizes (80 first and 90 second prizes) were given to the winners of various flower categories. A huge rush of visitors comprising city residents, students, school children and tiny tots visited the show, she added. Dr Dhatt congratulated the winners and the participants, and invited them to the next Flower Show, to be held during the next year.
Various schools, such as DAV Public School, BRS Nagar; DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road; Police DAV Public School; Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension; Sat Paul Mittal School; Delhi Public School; Doraha Public School, Doraha; and colleges Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Model Town; GHG Harparkash College of Education, Sidhwan Khurd etc. participated in different categories of the show.
Various institutions like Verka Milk Plant, Technocare Nursery, Baddowal, Bagicha Nursery, Bengal Nursery, Holland International Nursery, Raj Nursery, Gagan Enterprises, New Janta Nursery and Good Earth Machines had put-up their stalls for the sale of ornamental plants and landscape accessories. Exclusive varieties of planting material and decorative pots were displayed.
