Focus on socially relevant and outcome based authentic research

Chandigarh, April 3, 2023: University Institute of Applied Management Science (UIAMS) Panjab University organised a seven days Workshop on Using SPSS and AMOS sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) from March 27 - April 2, 2023 with the objective to acquaint the participants with use of modern data handling techniques for outcome based research. 35 participants from different universities of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh participated in the workshop and gained hands-on experience of softwares like VOS-Viewer, SMART-PLS, SPSS, NVIVO and AMOS. Various eminent researchers and academicians from diverse field discussed topics of extreme relevance and interest to the researchers including Prof. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Department of Statistics, Dr. Neeraj Singh, A.C. Joshi Library,  Prof. Deepti Gupta, Department of English and Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Director, UIAMS from Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Ravi Inder Singh, Professor, Panjab University Regional Campus Ludhiana, Prof. Rishi Raj Sharma, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Prof. Sanjeev Gupta, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, New Delhi, , Panjab University, Chandigarh,Prof. Upasana Dhanda, SGTB Khalsa College, University of Delhi,  Dr.Sahil Gupta, Jaipuria School of Business, Ghaziabad, U.P., Dr. Renu Lamba, Graphic Era University Dehradun and Jagdeep Singh from Cummins India Ltd., Maharashtra.

The valedictory session was inaugurated by Guest of Honour Prof. Devinder Singh, Principal Investigator and Chairperson, Deptt. Of Laws, Panjab University and Prof. Keshav Malhotra, Dean, Faculty of Business Management and Commerce, Panjab University. Prof. Devinder Singh, Chairperson, Department of Laws and Pincipal Investigator complimented the organizers for choosing a theme, which is extremely relevant and timely in contemporary times, especially in the field of business management, encountering new challenges each day in the globalized world. The event was lead by Prof. Monika Aggarwal, Director & Coordinators Dr. Manu Sharma, Dr. Aman Khera and Dr. Pooja Arora of UIAMS. Prof. Keshav Malhotra in his valedictory address said that our University is meant primarily for teaching and research where students explore new vistas in their specialized fields by conducting research, which often questions the existing theories and approaches, captures the ground reality and often suggests policy options.  In fact, teaching and research are complimentary to each other, and an active researcher is always a good teacher too, because he/she is updated with the latest literature, empirical trends, real life situations, and so on. He further said that any research which is done dishonestly is worthless, both in terms of its academic output and its relevance so a researcher has to be honest.  The event was coordinated by student coordinators including Shailika Rawat, Parneet Kaur, Preeti and Kanika.
