Chandigarh, November 10, 2012: Smoke free and eco-friendly candles made by blind students of ‘Institute for Blind’, Chandigarh will cater light for the children and farmers of village Palai of district Budaun (UP) this Diwali.

Spreading the message of ‘Green Diwali’, the village children will display banners saying no to crackers and yes to nature. This candle march will be conducted from November 11-13. Village Palai suffers from many problems and lacks even basic amenities like electricity, toilets and education.

Spreading the message of progress, awareness and education through new tools of media and information in villages of Nakodar Tehsil of Jallandhar (Punjab), Pithoragarh (Uttrakhand), Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh) and Budaun (UP), Prakash Foundation has decided to celebrate this Diwali in a very remote and poverty struck village. The team also includes two girl students from Ladakh.

On the request of Prakash Foundation, professionals from Delhi and Chandigarh agreed instantly to celebrate this Diwali in a village situated around 1,000 Kms far. Out of which main delegates are Col. (Retd.) VS Jamwal, US-returned management trainer Manish Bansal, artist from Chandigarh College of Art Monika Modak and veteran press photographer Vinay Malik who has worked with esteemed newspapers like ‘Times of India’ and ‘The Tribune’.
