FOOD BUSINESS OPERATORS MANDATORY TO GET REGISTERED UNDER FOOD SAFETY ACT, VIOLATORS TO FACE MUSIC
HEALTH DEPARTMENT HOLDS TRAINING FOR SWEET MANUFACTURERS, OWNERS OF HOTELS, DHABAS AND CATERING CONTRACTORS LUDHIANA, September 28, 2018: The health department on Friday organized a training workshop for the owners of hotels, Dhabas, sweet manufacturers and catering contractors to apprise them about guidelines issued by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for mandatory registration. Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Shena Aggarwal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jagraon Neeru Katyal were chief guests of the workshop. The experts from Food Safety wing of the health department, dairy development, horticulture, agriculture, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University, Verka Milk Plant and others detailed various issues to the participants. District Health Officer Dr Andesh Kang asked them about mandatory obtaining of a license or get registration under Food Safety Act. She also highlighted about guidelines of Act and exhorted them to follow this otherwise action could be taken including heavy fine and punishment. Dr Balwinder Singh from Dairy Development Board and Dr Nikita Goyal from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Science University threw light on the methods of checking adulteration in various food products. They also asked them to contact their department if they want to get practical training of the methods. The chief guests sought cooperation from the participants for the compliance of the guidelines to ensure safe and healthy products to make Mission Tandarust Punjab a huge success.
