Food Supply Teams take stock of wheat procurement
The DFSC and her team met the farmers, labourers, commission agents and staff of the procurement agencies
Ludhiana: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, the team of food supply department led by District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) Harveen Kaur continued the field visits in grain markets of Khanna to ensure smooth and hassle-free manner in the district.
The DFSC and her team met the farmers, labourers, commission agents and staff of the procurement agencies and reviewed the status of procurement, lifting and availability of gunny bags.
The farmers and commission agents expressed satisfaction over the procurement operations and said the wheat glut in the market was result of persistent harvesting of crop by farmers.
Commission Agents' Association head Harbans Singh Rosha demanded to expedite the pace of lifting following which DFSC asked contractors to look into matter and clear the stock without fail.
DFSC Harveen Kaur assured them that administration is committed to ensure procure every single grain of the farmers and any kind of laxity on the part of officials is totally unwarranted and undesirable.
