For bringing youth undergoing treatment at OOAT Centres, District Administration holds job fair
142 Youth participate, nine companies select 107 candidates
Ludhiana, August 18, 2021: In an unique step aimed at helping the drug dependents to lead a normal life by bringing them into the mainstream, the district administration on Wednesday organized a job fair in the office of DBEE for the youths undergoing treatment at local OOAT centres under Mission Red Sky.
Punjab Backward Classes Land Development and Finance Corporation (Backfinco) vice-chairman Mohammad Gulab inaugurated the job fair in which as many as 142 youths participated out of which 109 we're selected by nine companies.
Gulab told that Punjab Government has launched ‘Mission Red sky’ (Mission of Rehabilitation of Drug Abuse Victims through Skilling and Employment).
He said that under this mission, drug dependents are being identified and would be provided job opportunities by enhancing their capabilities through skill development/training programs so that they can earn a livelihood like others.
He added that the mission would ensure drug dependents do not face any kind of problem in getting the employment along with their treatment.
He added mission would help the drug dependents to become active-partner of in the socio-economic growth of the state either gainful employment or starting own ventures.
He said that the massive crackdown on the peddlers by the state government and large-scale awareness programs including DAPO, Buddy, and others have yielded positive results as these movements have created awareness among the general public.
Navdeep Singh, Deputy CEO, DBEE, Ludhiana was also present on the occasion.
