The Maha Kumbh 2025 is almost a year and a half away but foreign tourists have already started making enquiries and bookings for a trip to the holy city during the event.
Prayagraj, July 7 (IANS) The Maha Kumbh 2025 is almost a year and a half away but foreign tourists have already started making enquiries and bookings for a trip to the holy city during the event.
According to tour and travel operators, around 50 people from the US have already booked a visit and stay in Prayagraj while another 100 from different countries have already enquired about the event in Prayagraj.
The Maha Kumbh is a religious fair and a major site of pilgrimage for Hindus that is observed once every 12 years, to celebrate every revolution Jupiter completes, at four river-bank pilgrimage sites: Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain.
The festival is marked by a ritual of dips in the holy river waters and performing various religious rituals. This time, tour operators are offering unique experiences to visitors like heritage walks, Akhara experience, cycle tours, spiritual walks to experiencing Shahi Snans by boat, among others.
The Prayagraj Mela Authority and the state government are making public official plans for the tent cities, their bookings, and details about attractions like helicopter and balloon rides during the 45-day fair.
"Apart from the US, people of many European countries, including the UK, are seeking information about the fair and the various events that will take place on the banks of the Sangam. More than 100 people from different countries have sent messages asking for detailed information about the fair while 50 in different groups from the US have already made bookings with us," said Nilesh Narain, who is a prominent tour operator.
