Former CM Hooda asks BJP to leave its insensitive attitude and find a solution by talking to the farmers
Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the BJP should change its insensitive and undemocratic attitude towards the farmers and the government should soon find a solution through talks with farmers.
Rohtak, December 16, 2024: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the BJP should change its insensitive and undemocratic attitude towards the farmers and the government should soon find a solution through talks with farmers.
Expressing concern over the health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a fast unto death for 20 days, Hooda said Dalllewal’s condition has become very worrying. “His life is precious for everyone, therefore the government should immediately resolve his demands and end the fast,” he said.
Talking to media persons in Rohtak today, Hooda said till now the entire movement of the farmers has been peaceful. “They listened to the government and agreed to go to Delhi without tractor trolleys. Still, stopping the farmers from going to Delhi is a completely undemocratic step. In a democracy, all citizens have the right to travel anywhere or express their views peacefully,” he added.
Hooda said the years old demands of the farmers are completely justified. “BJP itself had ended the farmers' movement by promising MSP. As per the assurance given to the farmers, there is no trace of the MSP committee till date,” he pointed out.
“Now the farmers are reminding the government of the promise it had made. Congress has been in favour of giving MSP to the farmers under the Swaminathan formula since the beginning. BJP also promised to double the income of farmers by implementing the Swaminathan report, but after coming to power, it forgot its promise and instead of doubling the income of farmers, increased their input cost manifold,” he added.
