Rohtak, April 14, 2025: Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said people should not forget Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedekar’s mantra ‘Be educated, stay organized, struggle. Paying floral tribute to Babasheb on his birth anniversary, Hooda said the country and society can progress only by moving forward on his teachings and the path shown by him.

Hooda was addressing the program organized by Haryana Dalit and Backward Class Welfare Association today as the chief guest. He remembered Dr Ambedkar’s important contribution in the making of the Constitution.

Hooda said that his father late Ranbir Singh Hooda also worked as a member in the Constituent Assembly under the chairmanship of Babasaheb. “It is a matter of great pride for us that the Constitution which bears the signature of Babasaheb, also has the signature of my late father,” he said, and added that this was one of the many reasons his family has always had a special personal attachment with the Constitution and memories related to Babasaheb.

After the program, Hooda also talked to many farmers, who said wheat procurement is not happening smoothly in the mandis. “Agencies are refusing to buy by making the excuse of moisture. Due to unseasonal rains, the problems of farmers have also increased due to increase in the amount of moisture in wheat. Dry wheat also has 13 to 15% moisture. Farmers and commission agents have raised the demand to increase the 12% moisture exemption by 2% to 14%,” he stated.

Supporting their demand, Hooda said during the Congress tenure, farmers were often given additional relaxation in moisture, which is why farmers did not face any problem in selling their crops. “But during the BJP tenure, the crops of the farmers are destroyed due to unseasonal rains, lack of arrangements of gunny bags and tarpaulins in the mandis, delay in purchase and timely lifting of the produce. “In such a situation, the farmers have to bear the brunt of natural calamity or government negligence,” he added.
