Former Congressman Mehar Singh Sandhu booked under NDPS Act

Ferozepur, April 7, 2015: The police have booked the former Congress leader and Ex-Chairman, Market Committee, Ferozepur Mehar Singh Sandhu for allegedly cultivation of poppy husk in his fields in Village Basti Bhag Singh, near Ferozepur.

Kikkar Singh, Inspector, CIA Staff, said that the police had received surreptitious information that Mehar Singh Sandhu, a former Congressman and ex-president of Market Committee had allegedly cultivated poppy husk in two canal field situated at Village Basti Bhag Singh, near Ferozepur. Acting vigorously, a team of police officials raided in the fields. The farm workers working in the field fled away from the scene after the seeing the police personnel. Mehar Singh Sandhu also managed to escape along with his family members from his village Malwal Qadim.

Kikkar Singh added that Mehar Singh Sandhu has been booked under NDPS Act at Kulgarhi Police Station. “A hunt has been launched to nab Mehar Singh”, he added.
