Dharamshala, February 12, 2025: Former Industry Minister and BJP MLA from Jaswan Paragpur, Bikram Thakur, has strongly condemned the rising threats against administrative officers in Himachal Pradesh. His remarks came in response to the recent attack on Mandi SDM Om Kant Thakur, who suffered a broken tooth after being assaulted by the mining mafia while inspecting illegal sand mining on the Beas River. One arrest has been made, and the search for other accused is ongoing.

Thakur alleged that the state government is sidelining IAS and IPS officers despite their critical role in implementing government schemes and combating illegal activities. He claimed that efforts are being made to demoralise these officers.

He emphasised that officers in sensitive areas like Baddi, Nalagarh, and Amb face constant threats, making it difficult for them to perform their duties independently. He also criticised the government for ignoring security requests, including repeated appeals from Baddi SDM Vivek Mahajan for a personal security officer.

Thakur warned that if the government fails to protect administrative officers, the BJP will raise the issue in the assembly and may launch protests.

On the other hand, the State IAS Association has condemned the murderous attack on Himachal's IAS and SDM Mandi Omkant Thakur and has demanded strict action against the culprits.

The IAS Association, in a statement issued to the press, has demanded law and order duty officers and SDM should also be given the status of PSO (Personal Security Officer), so that such incidents are not repeated in future.
