There has been a significant increase in lifestyle diseases due to the sedentary lifestyle adopted by the millennial. Even diseases like cancer have become more of a lifestyle disease caused due to unhealthy practices like consumption of alcohol, smoking, unhealthy eating habits, and inactivity. We believe, with the help of this initiative people will start making practical improvements in their lives.” Dr Chirag Thonse, “Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Sports Medicine, Fortis Hospitals, Cunningham Road “ The electronic revolution which has gripped society has changed everyone's activity pattern, encouraging them to stay less active in general and be more involved digitally. It is important that this behaviour is switched to ensure that they stay active and healthy in order to avoid getting any health issue. Through this initiative we want to educate them about how regular walking, jogging or staying active can reduce the risk of getting any physical ailments which includes arthritis and joint-related problem.” Reverend Dr. Manoj D'Souza SJ, Director, St. Joseph's Institute of Management, "With an aim to encourage men to speak about prostate cancer, particularly advanced prostate cancer and to create awareness about factors and symptoms leading to prostate cancer, Fortis hospital, Bangalore in association with Prayas- SJIM’s CSR club had organized a 5k walkathon- A Manversation Campaign around men’s health and highlighting the importance of men’s problems and taboo surrounding men conversing about their health problems with each other. Being a part of the Jesuit institutions, it is important for a management institution such as SJIM to be a management institute of excellence committed to nurturing responsible business leaders having concern for society and the environment." As per reports, on an average men die four to five years before women, are nearly twice as likely to suffer from lung cancer as women and are also nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart diseases which call for attention and immediate interventions.”
