Ludhiana, June 5, 2024: Fortis Hospital Ludhiana, in collaboration with Clean Air Punjab, organized a plantation drive on World Environment Day. The event saw active participation from doctors, nursing staff, and management personnel at Fortis Hospital, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. The initiative underscores the hospital's commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being.
In addition, Fortis Hospital, Mall Road, marked the occasion by creating a "Wall of 1000 Mini Plants." This green wall aims to promote the importance of greenery and its impact on air quality, aligning with the global efforts to combat environmental challenges.
Dr. Vishavdeep Goyal, Zonal Director of Fortis Hospitals Ludhiana & Amritsar, emphasized the significance of environmental preservation, stating, “Nature is the most important gift that human beings have been bestowed with. And it is our duty and responsibility that we protect and preserve it for our future. As we celebrate World Environment Day, let us dedicate ourselves to the cause of Environment Protection and Sustainability. The theme for this year is #GenerationRestoration. Let us all come together to pledge ourselves to the cause of preservation of our environment. We have only ‘One Planet’ and we owe it to our children and the future generations to preserve it for them. I believe humankind, as the most influential being on the Earth, also owes it to all co-inhabitants of our planet - the plants, animals, marine ecosystem, etc., to protect and nurture them. We at Fortis are making our efforts to help build a sustainable environment for our future by reducing our plastic consumption, efficient use of power and electricity, conservation of water, and planting of trees to help the cause of #GenerationRestoration.”
Parinita Singh, Air Quality Lead for Clean Air Punjab, highlighted the critical need to address the declining green cover in Punjab, stating, “The decrease in plantation and green cover in Punjab is alarming and directly impacts our air quality. Increasing our green cover is essential to combat the adverse effects on health, which are exacerbated by poor air quality and frequent heat waves. By working together to plant more trees and restore our natural environment, we can improve air quality and create a healthier living space for everyone. This initiative by Fortis Hospital and Clean Air Punjab is a significant step towards addressing these urgent environmental issues.”
These activities highlight Fortis Hospital's dedication to fostering a healthier and greener environment for all.
