Ludhiana, September 22, 2014: The 27-years-old vegetable vendor from Tohana, district Fatehabad, Ram Lal has got a Good Samaritan in Fortis Hospital with the hospital helping him in his World Peace Seven Expedition.
The Fortis Ludhiana has sponsored Ram Lal’s expedition on Mount Elbrus helping him with Rs 50000. Director, Fortis Ludhiana, Vivan Gill said that the help was a gesture of the hospital to participate in paving the way for a peaceful future of world.
“Ram Lal’s expedition is aimed at promoting peace in the world and we feel proud to partner in his peace initiative. People are suffering from the tragedies of war and conflicts and this is our effort to spread message of peace as world today desires for peaceful living,” Vivaan Gill said.
The mountaineer Ram Lal comes from a very humble background and has appeared in part of the Colors Channel’s Mission Sapne series.
He has now set himself on a daunting mission of undertaking the seven-continent summit expedition, which is first time ever an Indian has undertaken. Fortis Hospital has sponsored Ram Lal’s second summit climb of the expedition to Mount Elbrus. Having completed his expedition, Ram Lal has become one of the youngest Indians to scale the Mount Elbrus of Europe.
The other peaks that he will scale subsequently are Cerro Aconcagua in South America, Mckinley in Denali, North America, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Vinson in Antarctica and Carstenz Pyramid in Australia.
“At the completion of this World Peace Seven Expedition, I will not only become the youngest Indian ever to scale seven continents of the world but also the only Indian to achieve this feat,” said Ram Lal.
A locale from hinterland of Haryana, Ram Lal has been mountaineering for the past 5 to 6 years. Born and brought in plains, Ram Lal always had fascination for the mountains that drew him towards mountaineering. He received training for mountaineering from Tohana resident and scaled the Mt Everest in May 2013 waving tricolor at the world’s highest peak.
A graduate in sports and diploma holder in physical education, Ram Lal runs his father’s fruit selling business. Unable to find enough money to fuel his passion, finance his family and undertake father’s treatment, Ram Lal has taken loans and depends on donations from helping hands like Fortis Hospital.
