To promote awareness about the evil of ragging and nurture an inclusive atmosphere at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, meetings were convened with the Anti-Ragging Committees from three of the university’s constituent colleges. These discussions included representatives from the College of Horticulture and the College of Forestry on the main campus, as well as the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Thunag.

To promote awareness about the evil of ragging and nurture an inclusive atmosphere at Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, meetings were convened with the Anti-Ragging Committees from three of the university’s constituent colleges. These discussions included representatives from the College of Horticulture and the College of Forestry on the main campus, as well as the College of Horticulture and Forestry in Thunag.

The meetings were chaired by Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Vice Chancellor of the university, and included student representatives, deans, faculty members, and external stakeholders.

Prof. Chandel praised the efforts of the Anti-Ragging Committees, particularly the student members, in maintaining positive relationships between senior and junior students across all campuses. He emphasized that interactions among students are vital to fostering a supportive academic environment and contribute significantly to overall personal development.

Acknowledging the well-documented issues associated with ragging, he urged committee members and the university community to remain vigilant. He encouraged the committees to facilitate connections among students, helping newcomers acclimate to university life. Suggestions for enhancing goodwill and positive interactions between new and returning students were actively discussed, along with initiatives aimed at raising awareness about ragging and its prevention to ensure a holistic learning environment.

Key participants included College Deans Dr. Manish Sharma, Dr. CL Thakur, and Dr. PL Sharma, Dean Students’ Welfare Dr. KK Raina, Registrar Narender Kumar, SDM Thunag, as well as representatives from the faculty, police department and Information and Public Relations.
