Foundation for Nandankanan Zoological Park ropeway laid
Bhubaneswar: Foundation for aerial ropeway at Nandankanan Zoological Park was laid out by Sri Bikram Keshari Arukha, Minister, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, and Parliamentary Affairs. The ropeway is being built by Damodar Ropeway and Infra Limited (DRIL), the company which has been Asia’s pioneer in the infrastructure and construction business since 1974.
The ropeway will have 12 cabins with a capacity of 6 persons per cabin. Once completed, the ropeway will add to the tourist attraction at the park spread over 437-hectare in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. A premier large zoo of India, Nandankanan is built right inside the forest and set in a completely natural environment.
Talking about the development, Mr Aditya Chamaria, Managing Director, Damodar Ropeway and Infra Ltd. (DRIL), said, “We are the only company in India with a spotless and accident-free record in passenger safety for more than 5 decades since inception. We are delighted to start this project and hope that we will help increase the number of visitors to the zoological park. The inauguration was carried out in the presence of Dr. Mona Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department; Shri Sisir Kumar Ratho, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Hoff, Odisha; Shri Shashi Paul, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Odisha; Shri Suresh Kumar Routray, Honourable MLA, Jatni; Shri Sushanta Kumar Rout, Honourable MLA, Bhubaneswar (North); and Shri Manoj Mahapatra, IFS, Director, Nandankanan Biological Park.
