Foundation stone of much-awaited PGI Satellite Centre laid down by Congress MLA
The PGI Satellite Centre was approved for this border district during the fag end of UPA-II regime in 2013
Ferozepur: On the very first day of the new year, Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki today laid the foundation stone of the much awaited PGI Satellite Centre project as a “New Year Gift” for the residents of this border town. On this occasion, Pinki was accompanied with Deputy Commissioner Gurpal Singh Chahal, SSP Bhupinder Singh and others.
Notably, the PGI Satellite Centre was approved for this border district during the fag end of UPA-II regime in 2013. Till then the project has been mired into several controversies due to which the residents belonging to this area have to bear the brunt of this apathy who have to travel long distances to meet their healthcare needs.
Earlier in September last year, the request for proposal (RFQ) for the construction of PGI Satellite Centre was issued and the tenders were floated in the first week of October 2020. While addressing the media persons, MLA Pinki said that this dream project will be completed in three phases and an amount of Rs. 490 crores will be spent on this project. “Overall around 2000 crores will be spent in totality on this project which will give major fillip to the healthcare needs of the entire region. The construction of PGI Satellite Centre was not only the dream of the residents of this border area but it was my dream also”, said PInki.
He said that not only the people of this region but also from the entire Malwa belt will be benefitted when the project will be completed. “Not only the health care, the project will also provide jobs to the thousands of youths belonging to this area”, he further added.
The Congress workers on this occasion distributed sweets also. On this occasion, Congress leaders including Bittu Sangha, Dharamjit Handa, Gulshan Monga and others were also present.
