Four day induction programme concludes

Chandigarh, August 9, 2019: The four day Induction Programme concluded today in the department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

Through this Induction Programme the students have been able to come up with their problems and experiences. On the first day, students were introduced to Panjab University by a special lecture by Prof. Rajat Sandhir from the Department of Biochemistry.

The session was chaired by Prof. N.K. Ojha, former Chairperson of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology and PUTA President. Prof. N.K. Ojha interacted with the new students and encouraged them to excel in their life The faculty and the Chairperson apprised the students about the rules and regulations of the department and also stressed that ragging of any kind is prohibited and thus no student should resort to ragging.

A special lecture was organized by Dr. Banani Bhattacharya, Deputy Director, Archaeology & Museums, Haryana, Chandigarh on “ Introduction to Archaeology” on the second day. She highlighted the importance of archaeological evidence in the writing of the History. She threw light on the various methods of exploration and excavation.

Prof. Deepti Gupta, Dean Alumni Relations interacted with the students and informed them about the Panjab University Alumni Association. She also urged them to become members of the Alumni Association to avail the benefits of the Association.

Pummy Sidhu, an alumnus of the Department shared her experiences with the students and stressed that they should come forward to preserve environment and strive hard to help the needy in society.

On the third day Prof. Seema Kapoor, from the department of Chemical Engineering & Technology interacted with the students of the department. Through her insightful interaction she urged students to become value driven leaders and managers. A plantation drive was organized near the Departmental Museum The students and faculty members participated in the plantation drive in the afternoon. On day four, a special session was organized in which students of M.A. Ist and M.A. 3rd Semester shared their experiences. Both the faculty welcomed the students to the Department.
