Four laned Landran Junction project on fast track: Balbir Singh Sidhu
Cabinet Minister takes stock of progress, gives necessary directions to officers concerned
S. A. S. Nagar: As part of the commitment to mitigate the problems of the common people and provide them with topnotch infrastructure, the Health and Family Welfare, Labour Minister and MLA (Mohali) Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu today took stock of the ongoing project pertaining to road construction at the Landran Junction by paying a personal visit to the site.
Directing the PWD officials to speed up the work, the minister said that the pace of the work had slackened owing to the lockdown but now, it has again gathered steam. He added the pace of the work would be further accelerated so as to ensure that those going through this route to Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh or J&K don't encounter any problem. The work on this junction assumes all the more importance given the fact scores of devotees pass through the route to pay obeisance at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib.
The minister also said that the coming up of the junction would rid the people of the menace of traffic jam. Directing the officials concerned to ensure transparency and quality in the work and keep checking the construction material at regular intervals.
The stretch of the road from Mohali to Landran would be completed soon whereas the work to beautify the 28 Km stretch of road from Mohali to Sirhind by laying premix on it, is also going on war footing. The 800 metre section of the 2 and half Km junction at Landran would be four laned. The project would cost Rs. 25.33 Crore and would also include 2 slip roads.

A. S. Nagar, Mr. Sidhu said that the District has a world class infrastructure which explains why the multinational companies are heading to set up base in the district. The coming of MNCs and the universities would lead to the increase in job avenues while also speeding up the research related activities.
Commending the District Administration and Health Department in getting the District, Corona virus free, the minister said that the prompt decisions taken by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government resulted in keeping corona virus under check. The landmark initiatives undertaken by the State Government were also emulated by the Union Government.
Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included the Political Secretary to the minister and Chairman Market Committee Kharar Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Kuljit Singh Bedi, Sarpanch Landran Harcharan Singh Gill, Numberdar Dilbagh Singh, Jagdish Singh, Member Block Samiti Kharar Satwant Kaur Landran and Gurjant Singh.
