Free distribution drive of sanitary napkins by NGO, Punjab Police and NSS, Panjab University
It is observed that women from the lower income category are facing problems pertaining to access of sanitary napkins

During these testing times, where there is a scarcity of almost all
basic amenities. It is observed that women from the lower income
category are facing problems pertaining to access of sanitary napkins.
Keeping, this in mind and such distressful circumstances, Prasanchetas
Foundation along with NSS, Panjab University, Chandigarh has come
forward for the free distribution of sanitary napkins in various slums
and colonies of SAS Nagar in collaboration with the Punjab Police.
Manjula, Director of the Foundation said that the whole event is being
run with the able guidance and support of the Mrs.Gurpreet Deo, IPS,
Additional Director General of Police, Community Affairs Division,
Punjab.
Gaurav Gaur, NSS, Program Officer, Panjab University said that, till
date the team has distributed more than 2000 packets ( 12,000
pieces) of sanitary pads to such women. He said that, this team has
primarily targetted some of the sealed areas, which has COVID19,
positve cases inclusive of areas of Jagatpura etc alongwith Amb sahib
Colony, Ambedkar Colony and Azadpur Colony in Balongi, SAS Nagar.
Director of Prasanchetas Foundation, Manjula Sularia, said that this
distribution would continue and they would try to reach out to
maximum number of people during this difficult time.
Gaur thanked the ADGP and said that, all this process is possible
because of the Punjab Police, as they only provided the Police team
and vehicle to move around through those curfew or sealed areas.
