The announcement of freebies by political parties contesting the Delhi Assembly elections has become a central strategy, showcasing their future policies and programs to attract voters. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in power since 2013, is seeking re-election, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) plays the role of the opposition. The Congress party, struggling to regain its foothold, is also in the fray.

Ultimately, the fate of candidates will rest in the hands of the voters, who will exercise their democratic right on February 5, 2025, to decide which party will form the government. Every vote carries immense significance in shaping the governance that aligns with public interests and aspirations.
Delhi Assembly Polls: February 5, 2025
The Aam Aadmi Party has been at the helm in Delhi since 2013, with Arvind Kejriwal serving as Chief Minister for three consecutive terms. In 2024, Atishi Singh assumed the position of Chief Minister, steering the administration until the announcement of the upcoming polls.
The New Delhi Assembly seat is poised to witness a thrilling triangular contest this election season. AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal will face BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit.
• Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma: A two-time Member of Parliament (2014, 2019) and former MLA from Delhi (2013). He is the son of the late Sahib Singh Verma, a former Union Minister and Chief Minister of Delhi (1996–1998).
• Sandeep Dikshit: A two-time Member of Parliament and son of the late Sheila Dikshit, who served as Chief Minister of Delhi for three consecutive terms.
The New Delhi seat holds historical significance, having been contested by prominent leaders like Sheila Dikshit and Arvind Kejriwal in previous elections. This time, the outcome remains unpredictable as all three candidates are strong contenders.
While AAP is confident of securing a fourth consecutive term by highlighting its achievements and future plans, the BJP is banking on anti-incumbency sentiments to propel it to power. Meanwhile, Congress faces an uphill battle to regain its presence in the Assembly, with vote division among the three parties making the final outcome uncertain.
