Freedom Run 2021 will see legendary 79-year-old runner Amar Singh Chauhan in action
Panchkula, August 26, 2021: Marking the Diamond Jubilee year of Independence, Venus Remedies is organising Freedom Run 2021 on National Sports Day on August 29, where 79-year-old legendary distance runner Amar Singh Chauhan, who has won 81 gold medals in 92 marathons he has run across the world since 2012, will be among the participants with 2018 Asian Games gold medallist Manjit Singh Chahal as the chief guest. Aiming to promote the need for keeping fit and maintaining a healthier lifestyle, Freedom Run 2021 is open to public participation through registration in the 5 km, 10 km and 21 km categories.
Chauhan, a go-getter who has also won the Fauja Singh Trophy for super veteran runners at the Vaisakhi Half-Marathon in Canada, has been improving upon his timing with each performance, clocking in a personal best of 1:43:42 for a half-marathon distance of 21 km.
Marathon runner Kulpreet Brar, who conquered paralysis to emerge as a lively athlete four years ago, will also take part in Freedom Run 2021. She has competed in more than 25 races since 2017.
People from all walks of life, including delegates of the Indian Medical Association and the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council, will be part of Freedom Run 2021, which will begin from Sector 5, Panchkula early in the morning this coming Sunday.
