French dignitaries visit Home Science College
The team of French Dignitaries visited Government Home Science College today to see the heritage furniture present in the campus.
Chandigarh, November 17, 2022; The team of French Dignitaries visited Government Home Science College today to see the heritage furniture present in the campus. The college has more than 170 pieces of heritage furniture and the items include wooden almirahs, catalogue, pigeon racks, newspaper stands, chairs with cross & straight legs, tables etc.
The French team comprised of Brigittee Bouvier, Director at Foundation Le Corbusier, Nathalie Chanvallion, Adjutant of the Gendarmerie in the French Central Director of the Judicial Police, Maroussia Duraton, Conservation Scientist Preventive Conservation Department of the Research Centre of the French Museum, Delphine Ellie-Lefebvre, Heritage Restorer specialized in Furniture & Preventive Conversation, Benedicte Gandini, Conservation Architect, Le Corbusier Foundation, Jean-Christophe Simon, Architect and Inspector General of Historic Monuments for the French Ministry of Culture, Mr. Emmanuel Lebrun-Damiens Counsellor for Education, Science and Culture (COCAC) at Embassy of French in India, Amandine Roggeman, Cultural Attache at the French Institute in India, Ophelie Belin, Director of Alliance Francaise, Chandigarh and Shilpi Sharma, Cultural Coordinator at Alliance Francaise Chandigarh. They visited all the departments of the college and inspected the heritage furniture thoroughly.
Principal of the college, Prof Sudha Katyal and other senior staff took them around and discussed the initiatives that can be implemented at the college level. The visit ended with a traditional lunch hosted by the college in college cafeteria run by students of the college. It was relished and highly appreciated by French team.
