From Rejection to Redemption: Ragini Shinde Shines Bright on Indian Idol 15
Last weekend, Badshah, the judge of Sony Entertainment Television’s popular singing reality show, ‘Indian Idol 15’ and fans alike were stunned when Aurangabad’s 15-year-old Ragini Shinde faced rejection in the Theatre Round. This came as a shocker for many as Ragini's journey to Indian Idol was quite heroic. As a 3-year-old, she saved her brother from the grips of thalassemia through a life-saving bone marrow transplant, proving herself to be a fighter. Her audition too was a standout moment where she sang Asha Bhosle’s ‘Nigahen Milane Ko Jee Chahta Hai,’ showcasing her pure voice and choice of song with Badshah saying, “Agar aashirwad ka koi face hota, toh I think Ragini hoti.”
In a surprising turn of events, Ragini was reinstated as a 16th contestant, ensuring she didn’t replace anyone while giving her a well-deserved shot at the title. For her comeback performance, Ragini delivered a stunning rendition of Usha Mangeshkar’s, ‘Tumko Piya Dil Diya’ and ‘Main Chali.’ Her return to the show was met with a special guest—Usha Mangeshkar who praised Ragini’s courage and her incredible talent and compared Ragini’s voice to that of Asha Bhosle.
Expressing her gratitude to the Badshah and fans, a humble Ragini shares, “I am at a loss of words and can’t fully express my happiness. I am truly thankful to Badshah Sir and my fans who relentlessly rooted for me and had confidence in my talent. Being in the Top 16 is a huge responsibility and I am excited to move ahead in this journey.”
